Competition Results From SHEfights: #BeBoldForChange
With the dust having settled from SHEfights: #BeBoldForChange, we’re left with a lot of emotions. To see such an outpouring of support for the hard working nak muay ying was incredible; over 600 spectators and participants filled the Toronto Estonian House from wall to wall from start to finish. The energy in the building did not dim for one moment, lasting from the first 4 junior bouts all the way to the main event.
Photos and videos of the event will be released as they come available. All the competition was recorded in its entirety, and after weigh-ins athletes had the opportunity to share their stories on camera and discuss gender equality in muaythai and beyond. We’re currently in the process of editing these videos and will be sharing them through the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur and UN Women.
Thank you to In Fight Style and Skechers Canada for being amazing partners for the event. To Bully Be Gone for speaking about women empowerment and provide our youth some protection against the cold this winter. To Singha Beer and Soi Thai Street Food for always being there to support muaythai events and the Thai community.
Thank you to the 19 clubs that participated, and the 26 athletes that showed us their strength. Thank you to our community leaders Jenypher Lanthier, Laura Vuculescu, Mina Reyes, Audree Charbonneau, Ashley Nichols, & Janice Lyn for presiding not just over the event, but also over Ontario muaythai. Thank you to SHEspars and Jennifer Boffo for setting up a community movement And a very special thank you to our incredible, hardworking staff for keeping everything held together the entire night.
